The Basics of Travelling Smart!

Traveling is both stimulating and thrilling. It appeals to almost all of us for many reasons. It seems to come from somewhere deep within our sub-conscious. We are a societal and inquisitive animal. We are urged to explore and conquer our world both the known and unknown from our early nomadic traditions. It has always been, and always will be an exhilarating pursuit to go to unseen places.

Most of us face the basic travel dilemma of when and where to take our next trip or holiday. Here I will try to answer this key question: How do I pick a holiday destination and when is the best time to take my annual trip? Or would I be able to take in a couple of shorter trips instead this year?

Actually deciding on where to go and the time of travel is probably the easy part. Its not important if you are traveling as a thrill seeker, to visit family or friends in different cities or even countries, be present at an extravagant or very special event, visiting an out of the ordinary destination or just simply looking for rest and relaxation.

The best time to start planning your trip is as soon as the impulse hits you! Start looking for information straight away. Contact the local information and tourist offices and search online, to learn as much as you can about where you have decided to go.

Ensure that you plan your trip so there is something fun for everyone and budget for it! Think about organising activities for your children as well as for personal interest and indulgence. Deciding early will save money by and ensure you balance the family interest. Select a few of the touristy must-sees you really dont want to miss and enjoy them.

Deciding how long and how you will travel are very important decisions. The earlier you get organized and budget, the more prepared and better informed you will be. The early bird catches the worm!

Consider all the other details like, the time of year you want to travel, what will the weather be like, is seasonal traveling a good idea, public or religious holidays. Be clever and plan for the unexpected, unplanned extended stays, delays, layovers etc. Keep a positive attitude and use your ingenuity to make the most of your trips!
